Atlanta esthetics school students provide comfort to women in crisis through nurturing skin care services such as facials and hand massages.

ATLANTA, April 18, 2011 – Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics, a division of Atlanta School of Massage, has partnered with Kaleidoscope Butterfly, Inc, a non-profit organization that provides support primarily to women in crisis including survivors of domestic violence, survivors of childhood sexual abuse, women with bi-polar disorder, dementia, Alzheimer’s, homeless teenage mothers and survivors of chronic suicide attempt.

Students in the esthetics school at Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics begin to understand the dynamics of crisis and appropriate care as they advance through different levels of training offered by Kaleidoscope Butterfly.  Some environments need only basic training for students to learn how to provide clients with a nurturing experience. Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics students volunteer once a season to provide skin care education and services to women in need. These services encourage confidence building for these women during such challenging times.

“I had the opportunity to work with Kaleidoscope Butterfly twice, said Alethia Gilbert, an Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics graduate. The first time was a women’s retreat which was therapeutic and uplifting for me as well as for some of the ladies. I observed that some of them were fearful of being touched because of their crisis. We embraced them with comfort and provided the ladies with facials and hand massages.  The second time was geared towards providing relaxation and pampering services to a group of young adults who were excited to receive facials for the first time. The experience with them was joyful. They sent me thank you cards which brought me to tears.”
