Commitment to Sustainable Business Practices

Atlanta School of Massage supports the health and well-being of people and their communities by cultivating and promoting the vital connections between personal well-being, economic sustainability, and the health of our planet.

As future professionals in the business of health and wellness, it is essential that our students understand the direct link between health of the environment and that of society. Human health is directly dependent on our natural resources and the healthy balance of the planet. The potential to be a green pioneer in the field of massage and esthetics is not only good for the planet but also lends greater integrity to your practice.

Spa Industry Environmental Footprint

The spa industry typically utilizes environmental resources for a wide array of water-based treatments, laundry services and disposable items used in spa services. It is a major consumer of water, energy, and natural resources. Adopting green practices not only reduces environmental impact, but also reduces water and energy costs and raises environmental awareness among spa clientele.

In 2010, Atlanta School of Massage became the first school to become a member and SILVER Guiding Star sponsor of the Green Spa Network. Spas generate $60 billion in global revenue and draw $250 billion in the global spa tourism market. This results in an equally large environmental footprint. “GSN, sees this as an opportunity to make lasting environmental impact on a large scale, starting with sustainability assessments and easily-adoptable practices for individual facilities. By adopting green practices, we not only make spas themselves more sustainable, but support the financial sustainability of green businesses and raise environmental awareness among spa clientele.” Visit the Green Spa Network to learn more. Your membership includes a sustainability assessment tool, green spa toolkit and numerous resources.
